Gilbert put forward the point of the smokeless non-tobacco cigarette but failed to commercialize it. Starting in 1979, Phil Ray and Norman Jacobson created the first commercialized e-cigarette. But it was not electronic and only relied on evaporation of the nicotine. And in 2003, 52-year-old Hon Lik, a Chinese pharmacist and inventor, reprised the idea and created the device, which is currently known as the first-generation e-cigarettes.
Basic Components of E-cigs
Most e-cigarettes are composed of four different components, including:
* An internal or external battery that is used for powering the device. The battery capacity varies. And some can be charged with a micro-USB cord or a Type-C cord while other is non-rechargeable.
*A tank, atomizer or pod, cartridge that can hold the e-liquid containing varying amounts of nicotine, flavorings, and other chemicals like vegetable glycerin or polyethylene glycol.
*A coil or heating element that can heat the e-liquid and generate vapor
*A mouthpiece that the users use to inhale the vapor
How Do Vape Device Work?
For the e-cigarettes, the user’s inhaling can activate the battery-powered devices, and then the battery provides energy to the coil, which can heat up the e-liquid in the tank, atomizer, or cartridge and vaporize it to generate aerosol or vapor. Then you can inhale the vapor through the mouthpiece. This process people often called “vaping”. But for e-cigarettes with a button, it is button-triggered and you should press the button to turn on the device at first.
Different Types of E-Cigarettes
